Angry Much?
Out of character, vein popping, voice raising moments are potent opportunities for leaders.
I’m referring to that employee, son or daughter, neighbor, co-worker, boss, or spouse that just went OFF and is sharing a piece of their mind they can’t afford to lose.
Angry people disregard the bigger picture.
The bigger picture is usually disregarded for the NOW as anger rises. You are going to feel my WRATH is the mindset over sustainable relationships, negotiation strategy and the desired outcome. As a Leader anger is a real emotion that must be managed without losing your vision.
Angry people are transparent people.
Usually, transparency is a good thing but in anger it EXPOSES you. I love to watch angry people. Angry people tell others how they really feel. More importantly, angry people’s values and priorities are crystal clear to anyone who cares to observe.
I see the real you when you’re angry. Churchill put it this way,
“A man is about as big as the things that make him angry.”
On the good side, anger demonstrates noble virtues like passion, fairness, truth, and compassion. On the flip side, anger uncovers jealousy, envy, laziness, dishonesty, and so much more.
Passion Vs. Anger
Many people mask anger for passion. It's like the open-ended excuse for completely coming derailed......:"excuse me, I'm just passionate about this issue".
Even if they are overreacting, angry people open a window to their soul. Leaders unlock the ability to reach higher by peeking through the window that anger opens.
